We also have a scale that requires math to figure out the price.  We round the price to the nearest quarter on all our purchases to keep the math/change easy.  We have what we call a "cheat sheet." The cheat sheet is a laminated chart that has prices per lb. across the top and weights down the left had side.  Once you know the weight, you look to the column that has the price per lb. you are looking for to find your total price.  Our electronic scales are the best, because you can enter the price per lb.

We have an electronic scale we picked up used at a Scale Store.  I would also recommend checking EBay for scales.

Allison,

where did you buy the scales and for how much. We have been using
hanging scales for years and are in need of something better-figuring
out odd weights is a time consumer and some mornings my mind will not do
simple math even with a calculator (and I tend to be calculator
challenged believe it or not)
