Lucy and Anyones,
I am thinking Lucy's climate is not so very different from our
Kentucky area, and am wondering what varieties you've had luck in sowing
toward early or late summer success? Marvel of 4 seasons? any others?
Also, do you need either shade cloth or a part-shade to grow it under?
As an aside, we are thrilled to be given our first hoophouse structure
from a pal who is a mushroom grower in KY. It's 48' X14' at about 7'
high/ tubular steel. Would any of you recommend that we extend that
height with some chain link fence posting? I plan on it being in the
same spot for a good while, and not yet too educated about what we will
use it for in our next-to-no market area ( a bit of growth finally
showing in these poor counties!). I will begin to learn with just season
extension, and perhaps later turn it into a greenhouse in more prosperous
times! I have so appreciated learning about such from some of you and
the web! Neighbors ( elderly dear ones) that i grow their garden for
now, have just offered to purchase the poly film for me. Life is good
that way ;-)
Good growing, All~
