We use 'teepees' - stakes or pieces of rebar (the rod, not
the mesh) arranged in a teepee shape. The beans seem to
like them very well.
If you could cut your own pieces of brush or small trees, it
would be free.
If I were using string, I'd make a wooden frame: two legs -
in the shape of two arms of a triangle - on each end and a
crosspiece between them. Then you could put the strings
coming down diagonally from the crosspiece. The whole thing
would wind up in the shape of a pup tent.
(This is difficult to explain in writing. Darn.)
