Just a note of caution added to Mark's comment on
cotton seedmeal......Here in Mississippi we have TONS of what they call gin
trash, which would be great to use as compost type amendment EXCEPT
that heavy metals in pesticides/herbicides, whatever, that were used decades
ago, still remain in the soils to be recycled to some degree in the
plants.
Obviously gin trash would never be permitted under
organic certification, but even if one didn't care about that, seems like alot
of unwanted residues. Here folks use it for flowers and
shrubs.
