Hi, Folks!

There was a lot of talk about chickweed in garlic fields at the Garlic
Roundtable. No one had a good answer - some folks thought that keeping the
chickweed on as a cover might be helpful (but they hadn't really
experimented to find out), but others thought that since garlic is such a
poor competitor with weeds that it was best to get everything off.

Experiment and find out was the only answer anyone could give - maybe try to
take garlic of the same variety and leave the chickweed on a section and
take the weeds off another one and then compare the two at harvest.

If you decide to try it, let us know if the chickweed worked as a cover crop
- there are lots of folks that would be more than happy to leave the stuff
in the field if it's not going to hurt the garlic!
