Paul,

I do not personally have any greenhouses from Ledgewood Farms but know of several growers who do.  They are very happy with them. I am sure their High Tunnels are of the same quality.  We have cemented the posts  to all of our greenhouses into the ground because it has always been recommended to do so.  A lot of work, but worth the peace of mind with our climate.  I suppose you could cement the end posts and some in the middle if you didn’t want to do all of them.  Around here I have heard of it being done both ways.

Hi people,

I am thinking of putting up one of those Ledgewood High Tunnels from Ed Person up in Maine.  Probably sometime during the summer.  Everything I have seen seems to indicate that these are of good design and anyone who gets one loves it.  Is this true?  Any problems?

The basic design calls for the posts to be driven in the ground.  But my building inspector doesn't want to approve a permit for the design without the posts being set in concrete.  He wants them to be set at least at 42" deep to be below the frost line.  He is using the common sense advice about shallow set fence posts that need to be reset each year.  Around here, (western new york state) if you don't set your fence posts deep enough the frost will heave them up a bit and loosen them.

Have people had good success with wiggle wire to lock in the poly?  I have seen several commercial greenhouses on the way to work that use it so that makes me feel better about using it.
