Matt, when I gardened in the desert (Coachella Valley) I used old wooden
date/grapefruit packing boxes. I bought them fairly cheap as the growers
replaced them with new plastic or new wooden ones. They are about 4 x 4 and
about 3 ft deep. I liked them enough that I moved them to Oregon where I
still use them. Some were battered up so much that they were free. They are
all still usable after about 6 years. They are pretty indestructible. I
still use some of them as hay feeders for cows and horses. Right now I have
asparagus and garlic growing in them. I have grown tomatoes, peppers,
cucumbers, basil and flowers in them. Row covers and frost blankets are easy
to toss on. I am planning to use them for salad growing in a long hoop house
next. Plastic in the winter, shade cloth in the summer.
Margaret
So, in the interest of peace, will you help me with this?
Thanks, folks!
