Without seeing them I can't be sure but they may be expressions of virus
in the plant. This isn't a risk for you but it could make the fruit less
palatable. Viruses are a serious problem in pumpkins and squash but vary
from year to year along with aphid populations, which carry the virus and
infect the plant.
