A low tunnel is a temporary film, either plastic or
spun-bonded polypropylene, laid over the top of the crop, with or without a
supporting structure. But it just encloses the crop, with little additional
space. It's removed after an initial growth response or protective benefit,
usually 4-6 weeks.
Hi-tunnel is a walk-in structure, similar to a greenhouse but
without the utility infrastructure that support's year-round
growing.
