Tom, I always tie after I see the curds exposed from the wrapper. Curds can
grow
4 inches and not be sunburned even 6 inches in cooler weather. Cauliflower
bands
are 1/8 inch wide and 4 inches across. I only grow self wrapping varieties,
the
key to a quality head is making sure the wrappers grow fast and stay healthy.
Wrapper leaves are very fragile and subject to all kinds of disorders. Bob.
