First, you would need to be in area that has hardwoods. Then find a
sawmill that specializes in hardwoods. Most have a debarker- they remove
bark from logs before sawing. One I know of has a shredder just for this
and they shred up bark only for sale by the yard. (Their scraps from sawing
are chopped and sold to pulp mills and bring a higher price than bark).
If you're not in an area with a hardwoods and sawmills, you're at the mercy
of transport charges and resellers not really knowing what's in it.
And you got me curious. Questions that pop into mind are- what is this
program? What are you trying to grow (sounds like woody perennials)?
I would find out the science behind this specific recommendation so I could
experiment with readily available, cheap and "know what's in it" materials.
