Barb -

The NOP is a standard.

It doesn't matter if the organic standard comes NOP, CCOF,
Oregon Tilth, OCIA, or NOFA.

Your suggestion that "the federal "organic" rules now allow just about
any product that's not actually food to be labeled organic whether it is
or not, no questions asked"..... is off base.

The people who are making organic happen are the farmers,
inspectors, and certifiers.
OMRI was a visionary program that took years to build.
It is dynamic program that offers a bonafied list of allowed
organic inputs.

IOIA offers official and rigorous training to organic inspectors.

I stand by my remarks on potting mixes and greenhouse fertilizers
approved for certified organic production.
