I don't normally forward things to this list, but I received the information
below and contacted Guillermo (who's a member of this list) to confirm the
info was correct. It is. So if you aren't a listed farm with
LocalHarvest.org already, now's the time to sign up asap!!! He also said
"LH will be mentioned in both Jane magazine and Country Home mag this month
too." So put their promotion & marketing efforts to work for you & your
farm!

Forward info:
LocalHarvest.org is offering a free listing in their electronic directory
for family farmers selling directly to consumers and for farmers' markets.
You can get your own individual listing that tells consumers about your farm
or farmers' market, where you are, what you have to sell, how they can
purchase your farm products and you can even show a picture of your farm or
farmers' market if you want! For free!

Consumers can search the LocalHarvest.org directory by state, city, zip
code, farm type, or farm product to learn where to buy farm products grown
near them.

Go to www.LocalHarvest.org to sign up now. Be sure to check out listings
already in the directory too!

NO COMPUTER? NO PROBLEM! You can obtain a mail-in application form to use
to have your farm included on the listing by calling Jean Mills at
205-333-8504.

Please make sure you are on the list NOW because Southern SAWG is conducting
a media campaign to get national magazines and newspapers across the region
to educate consumers about the importance of eating locally grown foods and
then direct them to www.LocalHarvest.org to find farm products grown in
their area.

Southern Living Magazine, Organic Style Magazine, Jane Magazine and Country
Home Magazine are each already planning to include a notice about
LocalHarvest.org in their magazines. And there will be more!

Make sure that your potential customers know there are fresh, locally grown
foods in their area. Get on the LocalHarvest.org directory right now.

Please spread the word. Every family farmer who has farm products to sell
directly to consumers and every farmers' market in the South needs to be in
the www.LocalHarvest.org directory so consumers can find you.

Currently LocalHarvest.org, the largest directory of farms and farmers'
markets, has WAY too few listing for farms and farmers' markets in the
South. Look at these numbers:

Alabama - 14 farms and 17 farmers' markets
Arkansas - 9 farms and 28 farmers' markets
Florida - 28 farms and 48 farmers' markets
Georgia - 21 farms and 14 farmers' markets
Kentucky - 28 farms and 82 farmers' markets
Louisiana - 7 farms and 21 farmers' markets
Mississippi -5 farms and 3 farmers' markets
North Carolina - 49 farms and 61 farmers' markets
Oklahoma - 14 farms and 27 farmers' markets
South Carolina - 13 farms and 33 farmers' markets
Tennessee - 24 farms and 48 farmers' markets
Texas - 58 farms and 77 farmers' markets
Virginia - 61 farms and 68 farmers' markets

You know this is not all of the farms and markets we have in the South where
consumers can buy locally grown foods! Is your farm or farmers' market in
the LocalHarvest.org directory? Are all the farmers you know in this
directory? Well, put your farm and market on the map!

This service is being brought to you by a partnership between Southern SAWG,
LocalHarvest.org and the USDA's Risk Management Agency in an effort to
improve the economic sustainability of family farmers in the South.

For more information, contact Jean Mills, Southern SAWG, 205-333-8504 or
jeanmills AT aol.com

PS. Rodale Institute also has a free electronic directory that they just
started. You can get on their Farm Locator directory at www.newfarm.org
(then click on farm locator in right column). Sorry, no process for those
without access to a computer to sign up for this one yet but find a friend
to do it for you!
