Start making your own compost ASAP. Why spend money when you can make your own? Not to mention there are free sources for the stuff in bulk.
Check out your municipality and see if they make compost. Universities also may have free compost. Local garden centers (not big box stores like HD) usually have lots of bulk compost. Also look under "Mulch" in the yellow pages for bulk compost
