1. Could you please stop sending HTML email? I get all the
codes (as above).
I believe this is a plaint-text format list - if I'm
mistaken on this point, will someone please correct me?
2. If you want opinions about a bill, it would be better to
volunteer to send people a copy of the bill. It's difficult
to express opinions about a bill one hasn't seen.
3. Nevertheless, 'fair tax' is almost always a euphemism
for 'flat tax' - one tax rate for all. In other words,
you'd have the person making $200,000/year paying 10% of his
income *and* the person making $10,000/year paying 10% of
his income too. Give to the rich, screw the poor - this is
the main thrust of the Republican party these days
(unfortunately: I can remember when this wasn't true).
I am deeply opposed to any flat tax, and - if (as is usual)
'fair tax' means 'flat tax' in this case, I'd be deeply
opposed to it.

We have a business, an S-corporation, and I've had other
reasons to deal with the IRS through the years as well.
Maybe I've just been lucky: I haven't had any problems with
them.
I've found them to be quite helpful, in fact. Especially
recently - there was a period a while ago when they were
fairly nasty (the Reagan years, IIRC). But they have seemed
fine to me for at least the last decade. Again, I could
just have been lucky.
