While we don't have killer frosts here in Sonoma County (about 70 miles
north of the Golden Gate), my area does have frosts every winter. I've
grown mizuna, arugula, romaine, spinach and curly endive here every
winter for the last 3, and the lowest temperature has been 20.5 (with
wind chill).
No problems growing any of them, without cover, in raised beds.
This year I also plan on radicchio, escarole, chicory, mache, many
kinds of lettuces, chervil and cilantro (which is frost-hardy down to
10, supposedly), and italiam flat parsley grown in a tunnel.
