I'm soliciting new ideas for ways to efficiently grow
my pole beans. I grow about 500 row feet of various
varieties using approximately the same system for the
beans that I do tomatoes, the North Carolina (or
California) weave system. If you're not familiar with
that one, it involves driving stakes every three to
four feet within the row and running horizontal
lengths of twine every foot or so from ground level
going up. It works great for tomatoes since you're
making a basket of sorts from the twine, but the beans
prefer to grow vertically and end up all congregating
on the stake instead of distributing themselves along
the lengths of twine.

Since I rotate my beans, I can't justify building
anything on a permanent basis, and teepees made from
saplings don't especially seem all that effective a
use of space. Any brilliant ideas out there?

Thanks,
Kevin
