- Subject: [Market-farming] Garlic Vinegar--Johnny's seed
- Date: Tue, 29 Jul 2003 14:00:29 -0700 (PDT)
Interesting to hear others have had problems with seed not true to variety
with Johnny's. My "snowcrown" cauliflower from Johnny's I thought was
diseased at first, discovered it is actually another variety with pink/red
stems. Customers like it if they try it, but most are turned off by the
bizarre color. I also have a friend here who put in tremendous amounts of
sugar snap peas from Johnny's and they came up as a grab-bag of english
and snow peas.
On another tack---A question for all you vinegar folk.
I have quite a bit of vinegar infused with garlic waiting to be bottled.
A good friend who should know, told me all recomendations for vinegars
discourage the use of garlic. If this is true, Why? Is there a health
issue? Is it a problem that can be repaired? or prevented. (eg..dip
herbs in bleach solution. )?
