<<People will remember you for your quality but will never forgive you for
selling poor quality stuff...>>
Boy, is that the truth. This is the first year I've had successful crops of corn at all, & the first crop this year had lots of worms. I overcame this by shucking the corn, cutting it into "cobettes" & bagging it in clear plastic zips, 5-6 per bag. I had to keep it cold, but much to my surprise, people chose the "ready-to-eat" over the corn still in husks. You & I may know that the less the corn is tampered with, the sweeter it stays, but the "supermarket mentality" still likes convenience.
And I *KNOW* there will be e-mail responses to this about how when you close-bag it, you get into labeling & health dept issues. It need NOT get that complicated & if that's a problem for you or the market you sell from, then don't do it, but it worked great for me & there were no complaints. (And no, I didn't label it "ready-to-eat," or call it anything it wasn't, just put a price sticker on it.) Further, considering how much more I got for it than for corn still in the husk, it would probably be worth it to go to the trouble of making it legal, since it sold so well.
