Confusion has erupted among subscribers about the technical nature of this
list.
This list isn't a newsletter. It's a listserv. Listservs are not websites
or bulletin boards. They function independent of the world wide web. A
listserv is conducted through email, amongst many subscribers.
Your email addresses haven't been given out. When you subscribed to the
list, you became a part of an ongoing group discussion. The membership list
is hidden from spammers and set to prevent viruses--though I cannot
guarantee neither will happen to you. I've done the best I can do via the
only tools I have, courtesy of the university so graciously (& freely)
hosting this list.
If the volume frustrates you, reset your subscriptions to no-mail or digest.
Unfortunately, limiting the size of posts (20k--to prevent attachments &
viruses) means the digest goes out divided into 2-5 posts, depending on the
day's volume. You're also welcome to read the posts from the archives in
lieu of being a subscriber. You just can't post as a non-member.
Now, to get back to work...I took a break to walk the farm with camera in
hand on this RARE sunny day (alas, it's forecast to rain tonight ; (((.
It's amazing to find what's growing despite the rain & weeds...simply
beautiful...anyone up for fried cicadas??
