Greetings to the Market Farming List:

We are Dorian Hill Flower Farm in the greater Philadelphia area (West
Chester, PA), Zone 6b. We're very new (started in 2002) and very small (4
acres, less than 1/2 acre currently in production). We sell mixed flower
bouquets through a weekly bouquet delivery subscription service, and we will
start selling at the Norristown (PA) Farmer's Market next week. At present,
we have no greenhouse or hoophouse, only field crops, including annuals,
perennials, and woodies. Though not certified organic, we grow without
chemical pesticides or fertilizers. We just found out about the list
through Johnny's Select Seeds.
We look forward to some good discussion and any advice on growing and
marketing. Are there any other flower growers out there on this list?
BTW, are any of you familiar with the Local Harvest Website? Visit at
www.localharvest.org. You can join for free and they'll list your farm,
complete with a write-up, crop list, and photos. I've received several
inquiries and some customers for our bouquet subscription service through
them. I recommend it highly, especially if you don't already have your own
website.

Happy growing and happy selling.
