I use a combination of row covers on #9 gauge wire hoops and water
filled bottles painted with Tanglefoot™. this keeps my arugula very
clean all season.

The nice thing about Bull's Blood Beets is that they can be cut over
and over again for months without tearing out and reseeding. You
might have a tough time getting it to germinate in late July and
August, but the rest of the year it is fine. The color is
spectacular and it will add a nice texture contrast to the lettuces.
