Dave - I usually get my hay in the spring, when my hay farming neighbor begins cleaning out his leftovers to make way for the new stuff he'll have coming in. It sits out in the weather in my field and starts to rot, usually for a good 6-8 months before I use it. Sometimes seeds on the outside of the bales sprout, grow, and die. The temperatures inside the bales must get hot enough over the course of the summer that many of the interior seeds die. By the time I spread it out on my rows, I don't really get much weed germination. - J

Hello --
Has anyone ever tried using a landscape rake to:
Pull prunings out of an orchard?
Pull and/or windrow rocks out of a garden?
Did either one work? How well?
Thanks!
