Bob, our prices also change sometimes daily. We have a window that we try
and hit each year. When Mexico pepper comes in we might as well quit
picking.(You know free trade and all) I haven't quite figured out what the
free is all about. I can only tell you that I am not selling any pepper to
Mexico.
What we do is keep the pepper alive until our next window. We then fertilize
and water and start picking again. We do have to keep the pepper picked.
Sometime we just drop it in the row. Although I have sold some pepper to
salsa makers, they like the green and red mix.
I have reached a point in my life, when I back up to the market dock for
buyers, first thing they ask is how much. I give my price there reply is
always that's too much. My reply, leave it on the truck. Most will buy
anyway knowing that I have a quality product and it is fresh. Most time
picked that day.
I have not heard of the Fatali pepper but will check it out. Sounds
interesting. Is it a Habanero type? What color?
What all do you grow and how do you market? Retail, wholesale or both?

Please Lord help me to be the person my dog thinks I am..
