Re Spider mites: Predatory mites are great, but you need to let the
insectory know what kind of mite you have as well as the environmental
ranges in your greenhouse before they can give you the best predator
for your problem. --I've had good luck with simply raising the
humidity, too. If you get rust mites--much smaller than 2-spotted or
standard spider mites--you may have to go to extremes. Sulfur kills
them--if you can use it on the crop you're growing, it will control
them.
Re N Fertility and flea beetles: I couldn't agree more with Paul. I
supplement cold spring soils to get things going. I also use row
covers. I have tried Kaolin only one year and it did not do it for the
flea beetles. But it did a good job on squash bugs on squash plants.
We used it on peppers, too--what a bust. It was so hard to get off the
fruit that it wiped out any economic advantage it might have given us.
