People who sign contracts with Perdue do so by their own free will. They do
it because they love raising, working with and just being around chickens as
well as the rural way of life, and most of all a regular pay check in the
mail...Bob.

Pat,
I'm pleased to meet you - an address didn't come through, and I would
like to see it.
I will tell you that there are many veterans out on the streets these
days rallying against this war long and hard, as well as a few rallying for
loyalty to the Bush administration. In fact, it is the experiences of some
during war, contrasted with what their government told them, that have
encouraged them to question their government.

There is a very interesting article in The Guardian, which includes
interviews with 8 UK Gulf War veterans - and there is a wide variety of
views and experiences there that you might enjoy reading. The willingness
of several of them to go again so as to spare younger soldiers the pain and
wasted lives that have resulted for them is beautifully but heartbreakingly
sad. It was also interesting to read of how many are suffering from Gulf
War syndrome - 20 %, which the government of the UK is not dealing with
either, and it is heartbreaking to read of the many suicides among the
veterans.
I stood next to a Gulf War veteran this past Saturday in our local peace
rally. She is a surgical nurse, and told me much about her experiences
there. I told her what I had recently learned about Gulf War Veterans
telling how they had been ordered to set the oil wells on fire - and yet we
are told that it was Saddam Hussein. An acquaintance wrote just tonight,
and told me how her husband, who is a Navy corpsman, told her the same thing
about the wells when he came home after the Gulf War. We are told many
things by our government so as to bend our will toward war - so we must
search long and hard, and compare, and contrast, and think.
I will be look forward to seeing the site you recommend.
Jill

The men who know

Amid the debate over whether we should attack Iraq, there is one group whose
voice is seldom heard - the veterans of the last war. Sally Weale asked eigh
t British soldiers who were there the first time around how they feel about
a second war in the Gulf
