I think you will like the results of email preorders. If you have farm
pick-up, don't be overly generous with days and times- waiting when you
need to be working will drive you crazy. Also it works better if people
truly preorder- our storage system doesn't work well with "shopping"
We currently sell at local Farmer's markets, but found that Thursday
night pick-up worked well for us. We had the hours of 4 to 7 and would
basically quit early that night and be clean and relaxed by the time
customers arrived. It really became a night we looked forward to, it was
time off and a great chance to visit with customers. Thursday seemed to
be a good night as people were thinking about the weekend and it gave us
another harvest window. Several of our market customers would come out
if they had a weekend conflict.
For us it has worked well, and gives us a way sell more in our
neighborhood without drop-ins.
