Liz,
In theory yes, customer's should realize it's an investment...but
there's also another potential rsik. What if the farmer becomes
incapacitated? Out local CSA has 150 memberships, each paying $650
apiece. That's over $100,000 in outlay by the investors which could
go up in smoke due to an accident or illness or even fraud.

A highly visible failure could ruin all CSA's reputations in a region
for long time. I wonder if there is a way to have an "industry-wide"
insurance for just this eventuality. I found this possibility
disconcerting when I was a CSA member, knowing that I had expereinced
two instances where I had to toteally shut down my non-CSA growing
operations completely.
