Bread trays make excellent tomato transports. I kept in contact with a
friend who delivered bread, and when they'd have a few to dispose of, I'd
take them. With the holes underneath, it was handy to run a water hose over
the tomatoes, then allowed to sit to dry & for air circulation. The
self-stacking trays were best, though they didn't hold alot of tomatos. I
also used ordinary dish drainers when I first started. Can be picked up
real cheap at yard sales, thrift stores, etc--put out the word to friends,
too. Once sales increased, I needed a more stable source of quantity, hence
the bread trays.
