Title: RE: [market-farming] Markup percentage for products from other farms

Hi, in regards to this thread, I've been hearing alot of complaints from other growers lately about one grower who is bringing in his friends tomatoes; of course, the current market is already flooded with tomatoes, so now the cash flow is dispersed even more so; the grumblings are that "customers don't want just more tomatoes, they want more farmers": I don't agree, as the customer seems to not notice the farmer as much as the produce sometimes.  Is there anyone else out there who has dealt with this issue, again and again, and has come up with an effective solution? Thanks,

Our market allows you to resell for other 2 farms, provided they are
locally owned and are inspected/certified for growing the products.  We
have been approached by a farm about an hour from us about selling
hydroponic tomatoes and venison for them.  The tomatoes are top quality
and would offer variety to our early spring/late fall veggie mix.  We
already sell USDA inspected beef, pork, and lamb, so we have the
freezers/ handling system for the meat in place.  Is there a standard
mark-up percentage for veggies and/or meat?
