Hey y'all - if you are anywhere near Mississippi in December, come on by....we will roll out the red carpet!

The Mississippi Sustainable Agriculture Working Group holds its inaugural conference - "Agriculture that lasts: How to keep farming" - on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002 from 9-4 at the Yazoo City's Triangle Conference Center.  Registration fee of $20 includes luncheon featuring Mississippi-grown food.  To register send check or money order to MS-SAWG, PO Box 701, Oxford, MS 38655.  For more info, contact Errol Castens at 662=281-1069 or email mssawg AT hotmail.com.

Over thirty speakers (farmers and specialists) will present sessions on topics ranging from pastured poultry, cut flowers and mushrooms, and planting vegetables for profit, to integrating pasture with llivestock and crops, influencing government policy, and weed control.  Two key note speakers are John Ikerd, professor emeritus of agricultural economics at Univ. of Missouri, and Steve McKaskle, organic cotton farmer.  Both large and small scale growers will benefit.
