I personally would not have a problem with the types of chemicals we are
looking at. But for those who have to strictly follow organic rules, it may
not be an option.

My understanding is that it would make the mixture more effective. You need
a wetting agent to more easily penetrate the plant tissues.

This is apparently what the scientists found when they tried different
combinations of acetic and citric acid (and probably many other things too).
AllDown Active Ingredients:

Citric acid ………….......................…………………….... 5.0 %

Garlic ..…..…….....................…....……………………… 0.2 %

Other Ingredients: Acetic acid, yucca extracts, water …........ 94.8 %

Similar organic acids. Apparently there may be some synergy by having them
together in the mixture.
