I can't speak for other scientists but I have a fundamental respect for
anyone who decides to be a market farmer. I know how much is at stake and
how much work goes into it. Also, I like to tell people that I got my degree
at the University of Illinois. When I started working with growers I started
getting my education. Being able to work with growers put's everything I
learned in school into proper perspective, especially when you realize how
everything has to be put into the context of "making a living", which
frankly, means something different to each grower.
For those who've objected to this thread, my apologies. I'll cut it here.
