Welcome, Franklin!

You won't drive us crazy with questions - we all had them when we started out, and we still have them!

As you enter market farming, I am winding down - just growing some potatoes and some tomatoes for folks other than me this year.

You are right, the folks here are nice.

    Hi John...thanks for the reply.
I don't have any farming experience...I've only gardened on a home level.
When I retired...from the power generation industry..my daughter and son and I bought 56 acres here in southern Maine.. where we all built houses. The land was at one time farm land..but has now grown up into forest. Some of the land is partly open. We will have to clear a few acres..:-) and stump it.
The interest in small scale growing stems from an interest to do it for ourselves...good food and all that..:-) Then we thought..maybe we could do it on a larger scale and sell through the farmers markets in the area...theres maybe six or eight close by.
Anyway we are trying to get our ducks in a row and do our homework first...to cut down on mistakes...and not reinvent the wheel..:-)
I'm glad I found this forum...seems like a nice bunch of folks here....but hope I don't or won't drive folks nuts with basic questions..:-)  Franklin
