I have to agree with you - I'm in Lewis Co. and any of the Amish that I have done soil tests for will utilize organic fertilizers providing there is not a huge cost difference.  Otherwise, they will use chemical fertilizers!

Regarding organics and the Amish... the Amish in Northern New York are NOT organic.  I have no experience with Amish elsewhere.

I don't know if Amish farmers would be within the range of distance that you are thinking.  Lancaster County, PA is a ways, but St. Mary's County is closer.
