MVP II is the only genetically engineered Bt product I know of. The genes for production of a highly potent (to caterpillars, not humans) variant of the toxic protein in Bt were transferred from the original bacteria, Bacillus thuringiensis, to another, Psuedomonas flourescens, that is more amenable to industrial processing and has a UV resistant cell wall, so MVP has a much higher impact and residual than other Bt products. Dipel, Javelin, and other commonly available products are not genetically engineered and are ok to use.

I don't believe it is true. There is no need to genetically engineer Bt
spores as a spray on material. Why would someone spend money to genetically
engineer something that is easier and cheaper to produce naturally? It
should be widely available. The only genetically engineered Bt products you
can buy are plants or seeds, not a spray-on materials.
