I found the following on the organic gardening.com forum.
Clopyralid herbicide, currently available for commercial use, is toxic
to legumes (peas, beans, etc.) and nightshades (tomatoes, eggplants,
peppers) even after 2 yrs. of aggressive composting and animal
consumption, at as low as 5 parts per billion. For more details, see
www.seattlepi.nwsource.com/nwgardens/53843_lovejoy10.shtml
Dow Agrosciences plans to introduce a CONSUMER line of clopyralid
products! Help stop its impact!
The compost industry in WA state is being wracked by contamination from
this toxin. If it is disseminated among (non-organic) home gardeners,
ALL muni. and commercial greenwaste composting will be in danger!
Please, write the buyers for your local nurseries and garden centers and
ask them to refuse to stock clopyralid products! Current commercial
appl. names are Confront, Curtail, and Stinger. To write Dow: Dow
Agrosciences, LLC9330, Zionsville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46268.
