If I recall correctly what I read about sprouts, it apparently is very difficult to prevent harmful bacteria from growing along with the sprouts, even if you try very hard to keep everything as sanitary as possible...
I don't put sprouts in my vegetable share anymore just for that
reason. However, we just came home from eating at a Vietnamese
restaurant and I ate the sprouts. But then, we've been drinking
water piped down from our mountain side spring for 25 years and so
are probably resistant to illness caused by most bacteria.
