I was out playing Army for a couple of weeks...is it too late to weigh in on
this thread???

I was 8 months old when JFK was shot. Mom was taking me to the pediatrician
when she heard about it on the car radio (I don't remember it!). Her
recollection of the day: "Even old stone faced Dr. Gibbs was shaken up by
the news". I do remember a few years after that though when my mom explained
to me who JFK was and why his profile was on the fifty cent piece. An
honorable thing to do Ma, of which I am proud of you for taking the time to
explain to me.

Mom also had a humorous story about how she saw Kennedy's motorcade speed
past her one Sunday when he was visiting Minneapolis (1962?). She knew that
he was in town and was going to be attending mass that day, but when she saw
him go by and then glanced at her watch, her first thought was that he was
going to be late getting to church (as if they would have started without
him!) ;-D.

Sorry, don't even have a clue as to who LuLu was.

By the time the astronauts landed on the moon I was six years old. I
remember the day fairly well. I think that it was either a Saturday or
Sunday because my family and I went to a friend's cabin in rural Minnesota.
It was a great day to be six years old! The sun was shining bright and I
spent the whole day running around playing and swimming. However, by the
time we got home that evening and Neil Armstrong was ready to set foot on the
surface (around 8 or 9 PM Central time) I had fallen fast asleep from having
had such an active day. I MISSED IT! The greatest engineering feat of the
20th century and I missed it. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!

Mitch
