Hi, Friends -
I'm in the process of putting in a farm fence for an enviromentally oriented non-profit.
Because of the way this fence has to look (Meet the Public) and because I'm using welded panels, it is very tempting to use those uniformily produced pressure treated posts from Home Depot.
I've emailed both of my certification groups with no response yet, and can't find anything in my cert guidelines, nor the OMRI prohibiting pressure treated posts, but I sense that they are regulated, at least in proximity to food production.
This fencing if for a 'petting farm.' I'm wondering if I'm being 'to cautious' in thinking that pressure treated posts should not be used in any application.
The Accokeek foundation in southern MD uses some recycled plastic fence posts. I haven't been able to make contact with them to find out where they source them, nor can I find a supplier on the net. Does anyone know of a source for plastic fence posts or info on the web about them or other non-toxic / Green solutions for fence builders?
Thanks
