The moon phase does seem to make a big difference. We like seeding in the
second quarter and notice very fast germination; plantings during the 3rd and
4th quarters seemed much slower. It appears that the physics of
water/gravity (similar to tidal action where the location of the moon re: the
earth draws water up differentially) support the interest in doing things by
the moon...not just a superstitious old wives' tale! By the same token,
transplanting in the 3rd and 4th quarters apparently improves root
development.
