I'm not much less of a newbie than you. I come from a long line of
traditional farmers. I am intensly interested in more sustainable farming
methods. I think probably the next crop and your planting system has
nearly as much to do with what you plant as a cover crop as does your soil
test. Here is some good reading to get you started. I asked a similar
question not long ago and someone recommend a publication by SARE about
cover crops as well.
