Yes, we had the same experience, plus the 60 round barrels grouped against
the back wall (and used as the base for seed starting tables) created
wonderful rat habitat between them. Those barrels have now been nicely
recycled outside the greenhouses for use as rainwater catchment, linked
together about 4" off the ground with 3/4" clear plastic tubing. Gray
plastic "male threaded by barbed" fittings, with plumbers pipe dope liberally
applied as a sealant, work well to connect the pipes to each other as long as
the holes in the barrel sides are drilled with a hole saw. I didn't think
you could readily do that sort of thing on a curved surface without major
leakage, but it does work.
