Actually, Dennis Avery would object to stockless (vegan) farming as well.
He argues that wildlife areas will be sacrificed by organic growers who must
cover crop. You got to read his book, "Saving the Planet With Pesticides
and Plastic: The Environmental Triumph of High-Yield Farming" (I'm not
kidding) Go to www.hudson.org to order.
Avery's approach (along with his employer, the Hudson Institute) is to
debunk organics completely. The e coli argument was meant to start the
assault. Have you seen the 1996 CDC data he uses to support his claims?
It's absurd that he is being taken so seriously on this issue. CDC data

Avery believes and promotes the idea that the only methods that are
justifiable are chemical.
"Refusing to use artificial pesticides, organic farmers allow their crop
fields to suffer more damage from insects and rodents, which creates
openings through which fungi can enter the fruits and seeds."

Thus, he conclude, organically grown food is toxic AND carcinogenic.
In the same article in American Outlook Avery states, "The first consequence
of a global shift to organic farming would be the plowdown of at least
six-million square miles of wildlife habitat to make up for the lower yields
of organic production. That is more than the total land area of the United
States."
If you take a look at the fertilizer and seed companies who support his work
and the Hudson Institute, you would conclude that no argument for any type
of organic methods is going to appease him/them. They simply want organic
growers to go away. I'm afraid that vegan farming practices aren't going to
convince him.
