Are the bulbs being sold at Sam's Club, Walmart and the home improvement chains comparable to the bulbs I'd mailorder from a reputable grower?
I've been growing glads along w/ other cut flowers for market for several years now. My thought is that they're OK. Not great, not bad, (I mean this in marketing sense; health & productionwise, they're fine).
The bags have the most common colors/ varieties. Yellows, pinks & light purples seem to predominate. We use them; I wouldn't spend the money to buy a named variety of these; but also supplement w/ named varieites & some of the more unusual (and more expensive) colors & bicolors that people seem to really enjoy - (ratio of cheapies to not so cheapies is about half & half).
My best seller last year was a deep violet/burgandy solid colored glad. It was stunning displayed next to a white/violet bicolor. These guys usually sold out within the first hour.
Happy Spring!
