To all of the excellent choices mentioned in other posts we just have to add
a favorite "filler", reliable and incredibly productive: Tri-color Salvia
(in the sage family). Not really long stemmed, but pretty and easy to grow.
We also cut flowers from herbs as they go to flower, especially oregano.
