A flower farming friend, and myself, transport our single stem flowers
(those varities we sell by the stem) in 5 gallon buckets. They're
free/cheap & hold flowers upright. To keep glads upright, I put in a
section of chicken wire rolled up (sometimes I cut it down to whatever
height I need for that particular variety), in the bucket. This is
especially good for glads. We fill the buckets with water once we get to
market, and set them on the floor or short shelves 6-10" off the floor.

I prearrange garden bouquets the night before, tie with jute & stick in
several large, antique coffee pots (cowboy style) that I've purchased over
the years. People seem to like these informal arrangements. I never bring
any home. When they sell, I stick them in cellophane sleeves like florists
use. My friend who sells all her flowers by the stem, semi-arranges as the
customer picks & chooses. She also wraps using the preformed cellaphane
sleeves. In between customers she makes up a few arrangements & displays in
vases. Sometimes they sell, sometimes not. People like picking & choosing,
whether it's flowers or veggies!
