The basic ideas are sound but some parts are obscene for this European. "The rising terrorist activity in Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya... due to religion" ...That is the military industrial complex speaking with it's war of terror/war on terra. The US neocons decided to obliterate these poor but non violent countries and they are still doing so.
ISIS was built, trained, supplied and still is by NATO and the US. Obama bombs ISIS? In reality the bombs fall on Syrian grain silos, electricity plants and the odd hospital. Som of the ISIS terror videos may have been filmed in Hollywood. This is a post Orwellian world after all.

here's one to chew on

"Dr. Alexander shows that voluntary simplicity is the only pathway that avoids civilizational collapse. It does so because it entails the fundamental systemic transformation of civilization — the transition to a way of being which does not eschew technology, but uses the best of human technology to re-wire civilization from the ground up.

"At the core of this radical re-wiring is a transformation of the human relationship with nature: moving away from top-down modes of political and economic organization, to participatory models of grassroots self-governance, localized sustainable agriculture, and equity in access to economic production."

Good article but imo wrong in talking only about food sustainable production which is only a very small part of the world we live in. Again imo everything and it's dog is subverted by corporations.
Take the disease(health) industry for instance. Many very common diseases can be prevented by very cheap and readily available miens. And is there not a war being waged against these simple miens? Maybe 20 years ago a few doctors experimented by giving a good dose of a few vitamins to everybody who entered their hospital as a patient. Turned out negative side effects of all procedures dropped by 60 % and patients could be released from hospital on average in half the time they did before. These doctors lost their job and the vitamins were stopped and everything went back to normal. Influence of corporations maybe?
The legal system is subverted by corporations just as much. There are more than a million people in jail forced to do slave labour for some corporations.
The military industrial complex is permanently at war in some 50 different countries wiping out ecosystems and indigenous populations before we can learn too much from them just to make elbow room for corporations.
Science? 80 % of all scientific articles now are "made" by and for corporations and just 6 publishers allied with corporations decide what will be published.
Corporations are now extracting almost twice the resources our planet is capable of giving sustainably. Sustainability is not a word you will find much used by corporations except for propaganda purposes.

However important food is there are multiple other problems. Submit to the latest enforced vaccinations or resist. Either way you may find that other problems become more acute than food even.
