I'm afraid I must agree with you Paul, I see the same things happening in Ireland. Most grains have more than doubled in price over the last three years but some things still look good. My son is an eternal optimist and he noticed as well that rice dropped in price. I wonder why? Did it get mixed with some unspeakable gm variety? Some small things make no sense at all. A while ago we heard that the last sardine cannery had closed because the sardines were not around in large enough numbers any more. A week later the price of sardines in tomato sauce in a local big super market dropped by 2 %. And as strange I find it is that sardines in oil seem to have disappeared from the shelves at the same time.

I'd like to know what you see left out; there are many angles to this. From what I've seen it's not coming, it's already here and has been for some time and will get worse than the writer could imagine in worst case scenario. For example, the consequences of continuing glacial melt on the Tibetan Plateau & Himalayas - feeding the rivers that support 3 billion in south and east Asia. At current rates the effects should start to be felt this decade. Closer to home the drawdown on the Ogallalah Aquifer has bankrupted lots of farmers in the NM-TX border area not too far from me. It's wells water much of the midwest breadbasket.
