Works to keep predators away too. When my grandson was living here, I sent him out to pee every day around my strawberry pyramid. That's the only year I didn't lose most of the strawberries to whatever is eating them all now.
A friend on another list says that she and her husband have "steak and beer" day a couple of times each growing season. They invite all their friends, stoke them with high-protein food and alcohol, and then send the guys out to pee in the garden. She says it's the best fertilizer she's ever had.

Note: The high protein content is very interesting. This might make the
crop less attractive to insects too
